I have had a very busy year but now I am free from work for a few weeks. I like to tweak old (free) computers with Archlab and I got one with intel i5 (2nd gen) with 4 gb ram and nvidia GeForce GTX 560. (is there an easy nvidia-card for linux?) It’s slow but I have tweaked it faster! My latest discovery zramswap is a success!!
I have a question about zramswap: Is there a point to install zramswap on a computer with 8gb ram?
I suppose that would depend on how you’re using the computer. For general purpose stuff like surfing the web, I wouldn’t think so. If you’re constantly running MatLab or doing scientific simulations/modeling it might be beneficial.
I keep seeing setups where /tmp is placed in zram.
Thank you guys for quick answers! At the moment I am totally “sucked in”. It is so much fun that I forget to sleep!
I haven’t seen any downside to zramswap yet. But I guess there are some!?
Now it’s time for themeing/customizing!
