Thunar & Firefox taking 30 seconds to start

Hi
Suddenly, on my up to date AL i3-wm Thunar and firefox take ages (30 s) to start
This is the same via keybind, terminal or menu (ROFI?)
Once a window is open, opening another is ‘instant’
All the other apps I have tried are fine (XFCE4-terminal, Calibre, Skype, Zoom,
Everything else is fine too
Any ideas please?

What are the addons on FF, it might be the issues somehow.

I also wonder if you have Disabled FF s Collection Data & Use in your Privacy & Security into your Preferences also. It might make FF to start faster.

I have thunar taken about 30 seconds to start. It just started today on a Arch install, the AL install is still working without issue. Tried starting thunar from terminal so I could see what was happening and had no warnings or errors displayed, never had time to go through the logs yet.

Did you happen to do an update of the Arch system, but not the AL system?

Both are fully updated, but just noticed if I use pkexec thunar that thunar open as usual. I’m sure this will be fixed rather sooner than later. I never checked out the Arch bugs yet.

As for the Thunar issue here, do you happen to have this one installed in your system !( If so try to remove it & see what it does, from this link here)

True @PackRat , updates can screw up installs or apps sometimes.

@altman , just had a little time to look into the issue and seen your post, that fixed it without even having to reboot. On a reboot the fix carries through.
:beers:

You sir, are a STAR of the very highest stellar magnitude!!

I had xdg-desktop-portal installed as part of flatpak (only ever used it to test a beta of OpenCPN to verify their solution of an issue I raised there)

I removed flatpak and both Firefox and Thunar start instantaneously now

Thank you!

Glad that I could ve been of any help @leigh

& also glad that you got your issues fixed.

Edit; I implemented some of those also in my install, those helped with FF s slow speeds also.
