Termite is Dead

For those of you who use Termite it is no longer being maintained.

Sad news.

Indeed it is sad. Perhaps first term I learned to love and now… Kitty/Alacritty

Not using it. What is the fastest terminal emulator now? Alacritty was regarded as the champion before.

No idea, and it isn’t a big deal for me. I just use good old Suckless’ st.

Will check it out. It works well in Xorg?

Good thing about (st) is portability. kitty/alacritty for me.

Have you seen this?

Personally I only used foot long enough to add its support to nwg-launchers. No minute less, no minute more.

No, I am still using X. Will migrate to Wayland in the future.

I think xfce4-terminal and konsole are e best libvte terminals. Use to really like termite.

St instead of xterm, and alacrity for wayland. Haven’t tried foot yet. Heard good things about it.

FWIW I’m using kitty these days…

Kitty is OK.

Without digging into the specifics, cosmetically they appear to be very similar. and the claims of speed (GPU vs CPU) can be misconstrued. In my mind, the speed would be so negligible, it does not matter.
Of course, Rust manics will and have claimed that to be the only real difference as to why they opt for alacritty (IMHO)

Here is my real-life comparison gather the files from /

Kitty

Alacritty:
