This is made for gentoo but after editing a few excludes dirs, I think it could work great for Arch too.
Would basically back up a running system into a tarball. The Arch wiki has an example on this but this is a little more sophisticated.
This is quite nice, I like how it’s not trying to be anything but a bash script and just runs top to bottom, no functions or bs.
Will it automatically preserve file permissions and ownership or there’s some options I need to be aware of? Last time I used rsync and it worked in the end to restore a full backup but it took a long time.
Yeah. It does -p xattrs and numeric owner stuff that preserves permissions and stuff.
