That is one hell of a screen and Iâm a bit jelly ngl
What a monster!
It is a game changer. Took a bit of getting used to but the amount of real estate on this thing. plus the 10 workspaces on Arch. lol
Thanks @altman @natemaia @Dobbie03
one problem I have is whenever starting the PC up. I have to keep going to a terminal and type in nitrogen --restore. The wallpaper is just shifted. Never had a problem with the 34".
Add nitrogen --restore &
to your .xinitrc. Assuming youâre using Openbox or a wm.
Using i3. I will try it when I get home. Thanks.
It doesnât work.
Try it from the i3 config file:
exec --no-startup-id nitrogen --restore
If that doesnât work, maybe use feh instead:
exec --no-startup-id feh --bg-fill [path-to-wallpaper]
So I have the exec --no-startup-id nitrogen --restore and that didnât work.
So I added the exec_always. when I did the i3 restart Ctrl+Mod4+r restart that worked.
I had to put exec_always restart at the end of the i3 and that did the trick.
Sorry for hijacking this thread. Back to you the real life desk!
Looks like you have to set the wallpaper well after the window manager has started. A simple script with a sleep interval before nitrogen restores the wallpaper might work.
New look with external keyboard as lappy keyboard died
Not sure which of below is best / healthier ergonomically:
Keyboard on lappy gives wrist support on desk (although keyboard is high)
Keyboard on desk means wrists in free space off of desk (although keyboard is lower)
God I overthink everything
Heads up display in your cockpit.
@eight_bit_al I cant even stand putting different coloured clothes pegs on the same item of clothing, so that is part of the package Iâm afraid
@GreenMartian I have to say that I prefer that to side by side monitors where I have to keep turning my head- But I am soooo envious of that monitor that @HaxNet has. Maybe I will sell my child and get one
upgrade to the 34" curve (pretty cheap now). itâs like having 2 screens. 49" is more like 3 screens put together.
You do you and it looks like youâre doing a good job of it.
Staying clean/tidy is easier than getting back there.
Never go anywhere empty handed. Of taste, there is no dispute.

Use exec_always --no-startup-id nitrogen --restore
