Post Your uname -a

Believe you mate ! Have one similar & I guess it starts to show up its age.

My system is fine, it starts with 186 MB of RAM, now it’s the part of systemd that is slow to start and has a certain consumption, if it were not that I think that number would be much smaller.

Before doing ArchLabs my main system I spent some time with Obarum that uses s6-linux-init and JWM, I do not remember now but something did not please me in the system, and finally I axed the AL.

That s a lite install , never heard about Obarum before, the joys of being in a forum right !

Yes, Obarum is a nice system and there are no problems with program installations and other things for lack of Systemd, quite the contrary, smooth wheel and is very fast to start, I think if I was not in love with AL :sunglasses::grin: would be in Obarum or Gentoo / Funtoo (openRC).

Thx will check it out one day, had so many issues installing the latest months ago, I don t want it to happen again ! lol

Do this, use it on VM, it costs nothing to try, the base is Arch, so it’s easy for us.

See you!

See you mate !

uname -a
Linux altman 4.14.72-xanmod45 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 26 16:21:54 -03 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Puffy:~$ uname -a
OpenBSD Puffy.lan 6.4 GENERIC.MP#341 amd64

The #341 bit indicates how many patches have been applied to the kernel since the last release, it shows exactly how up-to-date my -current system is.

Wholy cow @Head_on_a_Stick , these are some patches in there ! Never knew what it was for, thx for this.

I thried to install OpenBSD years ago to no avail ! lol. Too complicated for me !

Yes, unfortunatelty OpenBSD doesn’t have the range of hardware support that Linux enjoys so it can be tricky finding hardware that will co-operate — I bought my ThinkPad X201 precisely because I knew OpenBSD (and 9front) would be well-supported on the device.

The developers apparently like ThinkPads and do extensively “dog food” their OS, and it shows.

Thx in there @Head_on_a_Stick , foods for taught here.

Edit: guess ThinkPads are pretty good lappies also.

It’s still hot…
