Hopefully a quick question about removing Windows 10

Hi AL!

I am about to remove a Windows install on a dual system (AL+Win10) without reinstalling AL.

How is the best way to do this?

Just remove Win-partitions and reformat and update grub?

I don´t use Win at all and can not upgrade the computer anyway (4 years old and too old for Win11 and Win10 will probably be obsolete soon.)

Delete the win partion in the partition table. Depends on your partion layout, if the old win partion is conjunctive to another linux partition, for example / or /home, you could use gparted to resize the linux partition to use the new free space. Otherwise, you could create a new linux partition and linux file system, modify your fstab to mount it, for example as /data, /backup, etc. Finally, modify your grub conf to remove the windows entry and update grub.

Thanks for answer!

I will follow your advice!

Hi again!
Now Win10 is gone. But winboot-manger is still there. I will search how to get rid of it!

Use efibootmgr.

$sudo pacman -S efibootmgr

$sudo efibootmgr -b XXXX -B (XXXX is the BootOrder number for windows in your system)

Yeah! Good stuff!
