Punk went from being about fashion, to being an antidote to the politics of Thatcher and Reagan. It was both anarchistic and nihilistic. It was all about fight and individualism, freedom at it’s most evocative. But it was fleeting, not meant to evolve into Rollins, Jack Black saying “That’s so punk” in the movie “School of Rock”, or Blink 182 and Foo Fighters. Punk was destined to last as long as Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. It’s not a genre of music. It’s the antitheses of genre.

I always thought that he possibly could have batted for the other team.
