Claro que si, vato. Soy el hatchery mayor domo eres el “install”ero numero uno.
Thanks for your hard work.
NP wicked. You guys enthusiasm makes it fun. Plus it’s all setup for anyone to take it and run with it if I step off a curb in Roswell and get hit by a UFO. I like to mess with hatchery when I’m down here working. At home there is plenty of honey does to keep me busy.
Edit: that may change if I get my fishing boat down here for the unusually warm weather.
I had written in the lock:
There I am completely with you, how you handle your project ‘hatchery’. I had already written in BL-Forum, for me your ISO was like a Christmas present. It fits exactly my ideas of an ISO. And, dk fits it like a glove.
@cog, thank you very much, for your time and work.
I also did a dist-upgrade. Worked perfectly.
Nice!
Not sure might be a dk issue. If it still does it without conky running (ALT+F12) it may be a dk issue. I’ve never used screenruler before. What’s it do in floating mode (ALT+F) ? ALT+T returns to tiling mode.
Do you have “libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0” & “gir1.2-gdkpixbuf-2.0” installed? This may be the culprit. I have it installed because of gimp more than likely.
This is what I’m showing in apt so I’m not sure if it’s a recommends problem.

I just installed it. Appears to be the way dk draws screenruler. I tried it on openbox and it looked normal but looked like yours on dk.
Thank you for your reply.
Without Conky the behavior is the same. The two packages you mentioned are installed.
On openbox (here lithium) the result is ok, despite a few errors. Here I use screenruler (exactly, as in beryllium) for years without problems.
@cog, that’s not why the world is ending. I just wanted you to know.
There is a bug report, which looks identical in the further course with mine here. Here a wrong interaction between ruby and the gnome libraries is suspected.
So, no danger for now, cog.
@cog - not a help question; just noticed you have:
{XF86AudioRaiseVolume,XF86AudioLowerVolume}
pamixer {-i,-d} 2
in the default keybinds, but nothing for XF86AudioMute. That intentional?
I added:
XF86AudioMute
pamixer -t
Good idea. The sxhkdrc and dkrc are pretty much stock from Nates in the dk repo. I polished the dkrc slightly per @chroot s recommendations but didn’t touch sxhkdrc. Guess I should give it a little love too. I’ll add this next time I go to rebuild the iso. Thanks.
I just uploaded a new iso with dk 1.8, see https://hatcherylinux.org/download/ for details.
Existing installs will get the new stuff with apt update/upgrade but you’ll need to copy over the new dk & sxhkd configs since there were a couple changes to dk:
cp /usr/share/hatchery/skel/.config/dk/* $HOME/.config/dk
Thanks @natemaia for the new dk release!
Just downloading your 23 version now will remove MX and install Hatchery.
Awesome download speed
It’s on cloudflare r2 object storage so it’s pretty darn fast!
Lol. Not really since I got everything setup these days. Only took about an hour and half. Just takes a little while because I have to build the packages then sync the repo, then build the iso and sync it then update and sync the site.
@cog
riogrande-011823-amd64.hybrid.iso install error it stops about 50% installing the system tried twice same result.
One thing thanks for including no grub install. No grub for me.
What point in the installer fails? When it says “installing system” ?
