The Kinoite Beta brings us KDE 5.27 (5.26.90). I’ll look up the presumed tiling feautures later on. Main item: integration of system and software updates into one interface, taking care of automated updates, without the obligation to reboot right now. There is a lot happening in this space.
Looks awesome. Memory usage is a bit high even for a KDE system.
Agree. Could be because of updates in the background. Last week I have used MicroOS KDE, it hovered around 1Gb and worked flawlessly with Tumbleweed updates for the whole week. In general I’ve seen a bump in mem usage on KDE since 5.26. Used to be around 780, 820 on a full Tumbleweed system. Now it’s usually around 1.1 Gb. Could be they changed to some more pre-loading like Gnome.
Very likely. They may spawn more background jobs in the new release. Hope they don’t force PIM in the new release. That’s the worst part of KDE products.
Yep, that would be my moment to leave as well. I don’t care for any K-shiite tbh. Basically I use kwin, with some additions but I’ve been known to run KDE with Nemo, Geany and Kitty
Cool gnome/fedora rig.
Do you like konsole? I always really liked it.
Yes, konsole, dolphin, krusader: there is a number of decent applications afaiac. And I use those indeed. It is with the other flurry of programs where it is a bit too much for me
Void Xfce4 -
cold and raining here so installed via chroot and built an Xfce4 desktop. First time using their chroot method.
What’s that kgx
terminal like?
I was just checking Kgx-terminal
, I really didn’t know it existed, it seems to me it’s a replacement for Gnome-terminal
, since it’s not in the system, at least I would think that’s where it’s coming from…
It’s not meant to replace gnome-terminal or tilix.
A minimal terminal app - kgx terminal - ubuntu writeup.
Gnome apparently renames it gnome-console.
Yes, I just read your link, thank you!
I simply prejudged very raṕidamente about its replacement, that’s all.
