Crash log?

Hi,
My laptop just switched off in the middle of writing a Skype message, like when power is cut to a desktop PC
This is so rare
Is there a log or something that might help me see what it was?

Search gave me this

So from uptime I worked out this
journalctl --since="2022-07-11 10:20"

which gave me this just before it turned off and I then booted

Did you try the other command in that post you linked:

journalctl -b -1

Does your laptop have a heat threshold that triggers a failsafe shutoff? My HP will do that. Usually the CPU and fan will crank up ahead of the shut off. Haven’t used it in a while, but Skype was always CPU intensive on that laptop.

You can search that; it may mean something - but there doesn’t seem to be a consensus.

Yup - gave me nearly 3 thousand of lines so I narrowed it down to the time it happened. At least that’s what I thought I did!

Always runs around 50 °C , no mad fan in AL (Win10 was a bit different :slight_smile: )

Its happened once or twice in the last year or two - so not a big problem - just curious

So now I know what ACPI is more or less
