ArchLabs Linux

CPU soft lockup

Hi! (Please bare with me I’m a tad new.)
I was using ArchLabs to install arch with i3 when all of a sudden it got stuck on “Removing archiso remains”. After a few minutes it started popping out oft lockup errors on CPU #1 and #7 over and over. I’ve never been able to fix this error when installing arch and I’d like to get it fixed this time instead of choosing another distro.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue? (I’ve been sitting here a while.)

You should probably give some system specifications over if you are able.

  1. Model of computer
  2. Cpu
  3. Gpu
    etc

Model: MSI GL-62 7RDX
CPU: Intel i7-7700HQ
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050
Storage: 128GB Kingston SSD + 1TB HDD
Has integrated graphics but I don’t know the model.

Got the specs here ;

Are you overclocking the processor at all?

Is the power supply in good condition? Check the cables and connectors.

Is the CPU microcode loaded?

dmesg | grep microcode

You could try

sysctl kernel.watchdog_thresh=30

Or maybe even higher values (10 is the default): https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc/?id=7017652
