Change shell

Hello!

I am fiddlin with Archlabs on mbp 13 retina and it’s working great now.
I tried earlier to change shell to bash, following arch-wiki and that gave me grub-rescue so I wonder which is the safest way to change shell on Archlabs?

chsh command is how I normally change shells

It shouldn’t be doing that. Weren’t you being dropped to grub rescue for another issue lately?

Like @PackRat has said… chsh -s /path/to/shell

It’ll ask for password, logout & back in again and you’re good to go.

Hi.

No this was the issue before! I had to reinstall but now I am double-checking it there is a archlabs-way to change shell.

@womp, I’m most comfortable with bash but just switched to zsh and back again using the above method & it worked fine here.

Yes!! It worked!
Just one tiny thing. I am not using a login manager and now I have to use “startx” to get into openbox. Do I add exec al-openbox to bashrc?

Not sure on this one @womp. Nate, Matt or PackRat will probably know… sorry.

I don’t think so; that may already be in your ~/.config/openbox/autostart file.

What iso did you use to install?

Hi!
I used the latest iso (2018-05)

The latest point release? Pretty sure openbox is all set up and ready to go then. The al-scripts were updated.

See my post here:

The “ArchLabs Way” is the same as the “Arch Way”

zsh is great. I love zsh. However, since I use the Dutch language I’m having kind of a problem with zsh. In bash, all messsages are translated. In zsh it’s plain old American  It’s not that I mind English. It’s just that I want a Dutch system
