Cannot edit sudoers with visudo

So, I can’t edit the sudoers file with visudo, either using Nano or Vim… it acts sporadically and trying to exit the editor crashes it and it just keeps printing

EOF
:
EOF
:
EOF
:

etc…

it appears to be an issue while using tilda AND termite… not sure what to do here.

I would give a try to either sakura or xterm & see what it does.

I dunno if using Sakura fixed it, it may have. But before I continued to try and edit it… I opened it, and did :wq then I reopened it, and added the new line with o and now my Shell insults me when I input the sudo password wrong  Yay

So it was probably Sakura, but I made sure that the file could actually be exited properly without editing it at all first.

Is this a face palm moment? You should be able to edit sudoer with visudo or you have a bad situation. Changing what terminal you use may help here.

Yeah, it worked fine with Sakura. So all is good now

Which is weird.

I’d say a reinstall is possible… but for one hiccup, it doesn’t really make sense. I don’t anticipate editing the sudoers file often. I mean if it comes down to it yeah… This so far has been a joy to use.

But I was extra careful this time, and only did one thing.

Slowly but shurely right !
