Another one, I couldn’t resist.

Inmost of these pics, the main is either ill shaped or poorly trimmed.

My favorite classic boat, J Class.

thanks!

Mine too - but they’re everybody’s favourite arent they?

Saw these in the Nottage institute when I was home last cycling along the River Colne where I grew up sailing:

Do they get big tides on that river?

3 to 5 metres
10 to 15’

The Colne estuary is a small muddy mesotidal (3- to 5-m tidal range) estuary (Fig. 1) on the east coast of England, entering the North Sea at Brightlingsea (51°45"N, 1°3"E).

This is a good article about some of the area’s sailing heritage:

Sunbeam is still sailing around there along with many other smacks

These foiling IMOCAs are nuts!
11th Hour Racing Team’s skipper Charlie Enright, “And we just had 31 knots as a 10 minute average, which isn’t nothing!”

^ I’ve been watching them in The Ocean Race.

TL:DR Fun to watch, but doesn’t stir up any emotion with me.

That kinda boat is like Indy cars; watch’em race on Sunday is about as close as I’ll ever get. Their shop rags cost more than any boat I could afford.
