I wanted to autostart plank, I tried to add it to ~/.config/openbox/autostart and that hosed things… where should I be placing it?
Did you add & at the end?

What actually happened, and post the line from your autostart file you used to try and start plank.
Didn’t add the &… let me try
That did it…I guess that’s what I get for winging it and not trying to look it up first…lol

Use the panel switcher for this, it’s why we wrote it after all 
, it’ll handle autostart entries for you
Use rofi and search for ‘Panel Switcher’ or run it directly with:
al-panel-chooser
