I have a plain Arch laptop with i3 which I really like. I also want to install openbox but I was wondering if there was a way to use the setup of OB that ArchLabs uses. It would be nice if that could be done. It saves a lot of setup work.
Pretty sure the openbox configs are on the ArchLabs git page. Check Dobbie’s signature for a link.
You could copy over openbox configs from here https://bitbucket.org/archlabslinux/skel/src/master/openbox-home/.config/
and apply themes from here https://bitbucket.org/archlabslinux/themes/src/master/Themes/
There was mention of a repo you could add to pacman.conf but unsure how that works as im not using archlabs, maybe the admin or mods here could chime in.
Probably be better to install via the archlabs iso though imo.
Thanks guys. I’ll check it out.
I’ll check it out. I don’t need an ArchLabs clone but they do some neat things with openbox. I’ll run through the config and delete/ change what’s needed.
Probably want to look at the .xprofile file as well. A lot of the openbox autostart commands were moved to there so they would start with any window manager.
An Archlabs installation takes about 15-20 minutes and then you have a really great ob-setup! It is not i the way of making your own configs and tweaks either! Well worth the effort!
